How To Create Your Bespoke Ring
Setting
Select your preferred setting style from our signature solitaire designs. The Classic and Ceremonial solitaire appear very similar from above however they have slight differences in their design.
Our Classic Solitaire (right) features a sweeping cathedral band that tapers as it meets the rail which gives the band a finer look. The Ceremonial Solitaire (left) is slightly more refined in nature, showcasing your diamond of choice in a minimal basket setting.
Diamond
Our passionate team of gem experts procures our extensive inventory of diamonds through a local and global network of stone partners who align with our focus on ethical sourcing and practices.
Our criteria and strict quality parameters ensure every diamond in our inventory are selected for its superior beauty and excellence. When choosing the perfect diamond for you, it is important to consider a combination of the 4C’s (carat, colour, clarity, cut).
Carat
Carat is the measurement of weight for a diamond and primarily what determines and influences value. Diamonds come in various carat weights, and as the weight increases, the more valuable and rarer they become.
Two diamonds of equal shape and carat weight can have a considerable price difference. When selecting your desired carat, remember that a diamond’s value is also determined by a combination of all the 4C’s, and not just the carat.
Consider the length and width mm measurements listed for each diamond to understand the size and how large the diamond will appear when viewed from above.
Colour
The GIA’s D to Z colour-grading scale is the industry’s most widely accepted grading system for diamonds. It is essentially the evaluation of diamonds based on the presence of colour.
The scale begins with the letter D, which represents the highest grading and a completely colourless stone. The letters on the lower end have more presence of colour and can often have a yellow tinge. Between grades D to G, colour distinctions are very subtle and often unnoticeable to the untrained eye.
At LOUISE JEAN, we source D to H colour grades especially for our inventory to guarantee bright, high-quality stones. These diamonds are within the colourless and near-colourless range exclusively, with the exception of Champagne, or fancy coloured diamonds.
Insert GIA colour grading scale
Clarity
During the diamond growth process, internal impurities and imperfections are formed, otherwise referred to as inclusions. The clarity grading of a diamond indicates the degree of inclusions that are present, and how easy they are to see.
The clarity grading scale of a diamond ranges from IF (Internally Flawless) to I3. At LOUISE JEAN, we ensure that all of our diamonds are eye-clean, ensuring no visible inclusions to the naked eye. When inclusions are present in our diamonds, they are too insignificant to be seen by anyone other than a trained diamond grader under magnification.
Insert CIA clarity grading scale
Cut
Cut is one of the most important C’s of a diamond, but unfortunately can also be one of the most confusing and misunderstood.
The Gemmological Institute of America (GIA) grades the cut by precisely measuring the angles and sizes of the facets of a diamond. These include the diamond’s table, depth, girdle, pavilion, crown, and culet. Polish and symmetry can also play a minor role. All these factors come together to determine the cut grade of the diamond.
Only diamonds that present a high excellence of cut quality, polish and symmetry are procured for our inventory. All of these diamonds are assessed on their overall brilliance, light performance and visual beauty.
Metal
Our designs can be crafted in 18K yellow gold, rose gold, white gold, or platinum.
Additional Options
Select additional design options to customise your design, including a diamond pavé band and two-tone setting.
A pavé band features micropavé diamonds which are delicately set along the band for additional sparkle.
A two-tone setting features a band that is crafted in your preference of yellow or rose gold, with a centre stone framed in platinum setting. Please note this option is not available for bands crafted in white gold or platinum.
Band Shape
We create our engagement rings with a standard 1.6mm half-round band. This achieves the best balance of a fine and dainty aesthetic, while maintaining the structural integrity that is essential for a lifetime piece.
The half-round profile gives the appearance of a traditional round band, whilst offering a comfort fit for wearing and stacking. If you would like to consider other band profiles for your piece, please contact us.
Please note, our wedding band styles are also created in our standard half-round band profile.
Ring Size
Please see our Ring Size Guide for helpful hints to determine your ring size. If you need to convert your ring size, please use our Ring Size Chart.
We understand you may not get it right the first time. We offer one complimentary resize* for all engagement rings for 6 months from the date the ring is received.

At LOUISE JEAN, we have an extensive inventory of laboratory-grown and natural diamonds. Each diamond is sourced through a local and global network of suppliers who align with our focus on ethical sourcing and practices.

Signature Designs
Select your preferred setting from our Signature Engagement styles. All our designs are high-profile, to allow for ease of stacking.
The Classic and Ceremonial solitaire appear very similar, however, they have slight differences in their design.
Our Ceremonial Solitaire is beloved for its minimalistic nature, showcasing your selected diamond in an elegant basket setting.
Our Classic Solitaire features cathedral shoulders that slightly taper as they meet the rail of the setting. A perfect juxtaposition of when traditional meets modern.
Metal
Our engagement designs are crafted in 18K yellow gold, rose gold, white gold, or platinum.
Band Profile
We have three signature band profiles. Half Round, Square Edge and Knife Edge.
The half-round profile is our most requested band. This gives the illusion of a rounded band from the top, but with flat sides for ease of stacking.
The square-edge profile is as the name suggests a squared band. This provides a clean modern look.
This option is not available for our Classic Solitaire setting.
The knife-edge profile features a subtle 'knife' top and flat sides (like our half-round band) to accommodate stacking. This adds a slightly edgier and unique look, compared to a more traditional profile.
This option is not available for our Classic Solitaire setting.
Please note, our wedding band styles are created in our standard half-round band profile. Additional costs may apply to customise the band profile on these designs.
Band Width
Many of our Signature engagement rings can be crafted in your preference of a 1.6mm, 1.8mm or 2mm band width. For centre stones 1.5ct and larger we recommend a width of 1.8mm or 2mm. This achieves the best balance of a fine and dainty aesthetic while maintaining the structural integrity that is essential for a lifetime piece.
Please see below for our band width options in selected styles:
Ceremonial Solitaire & Amira: Available in 1.6mm, 1.8mm & 2mm.
Classic Solitaire: Available in 1.8mm & 2mm only.
Please note, our Knife Edge Band Profile is available in 2mm band width only.
Pavé Options
A pavé band features melée diamonds which are meticulously set along the band for additional sparkle. Available in either a 1/2 pavé (left) or 3/4 pavé (right).
Alterations
Select additional design options to customise your design, including two-tone and claw options (Round solitaires only).
A two-tone setting features your selected stone framed in a platinum basket, and crafted with your band preference of yellow or rose gold. Please note, Two Tone is not available for bands crafted in white gold or platinum.
For Round Classic Solitaire & Round Ceremonial Solitaire, you have the option of selecting a 4-claw or 6-claw setting.
Hidden Gem
An inlay diamond or gemstone is a perfect way to add a personal touch to your Louise Jean piece. You can choose up to 3 hidden gems. These can represent something personal to you, such as your partner's or children's birthstones. Or a blue sapphire to honour the 'Something Blue' tradition.
For engagement rings, we set the hidden stone on the inside of the band directly below the setting. This is to avoid certain limitations when resizing. If more than one gem is chosen, the stones will be centred under the setting.
Ring Size
All LOUISE JEAN engagement rings and wedding bands are handcrafted to order and can be made to any size requirements.
Our rings are made to Australian ring sizes, based on an alphabetical scale from F - Z. These letters correlate with the internal diameter of the band, measured in millimetres. The difference from one ring size to the next is a matter of 0.2mm. The difference between a ring that fits and one that doesn’t could be just 0.4mm.
