Eliza & Ben | LJ Lovers
A couple who were introduced in the sweetest way, Eliza & Ben were married by Sydney Harbour in a ceremony they ensured was authentically them. Read on to hear what made their day so special and which moments they valued most.
We are so excited to hear your news, a huge congratulations on your wedding! Tell us, how did you two first meet?
Ben and I met in 2018 after being convinced to go on a date by Ben’s Nan who knew me as the nanny to her grandchildren. We have been all in and almost inseparable since the day we met (thanks Nan!). A few years on, and after many not so subtle hints (pictures of LJ rings) Ben proposed on a quiet little beach in Shoal Bay, our favourite beach. He chose a stunning radiant diamond with a classic solitaire setting which I’ve hardly taken my eyes off since.
Our hearts! What a beautiful story! Ben, take us back to your ceremony, how did you feel when you first saw Eliza?
I was completely overwhelmed, it really hit me that she was my wife. The most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.
Eliza, did you feel nervous about walking down the aisle?
I really thought in the lead up to the wedding that the nerves would set in but they never did! I knew walking down that aisle meant I was committing to such a beautiful future with someone that adores me. I was just so excited to see him all handsome in his suit! I knew I didn’t want to be ‘given away’ so I had my parents walk me to the start of the aisle where I walked the rest of the way to Ben by myself. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous about tripping, but this was something really important to me and I honestly felt like Ben and I were the only ones there in that moment.
It sounds like you had such an elegant ceremony, how did you celebrate your reception?
Our reception was held at Athol Hall in Mosman. We were married on the lawn and just loved the idea of staying at one location from start to finish. Our photos were all taken on site by the amazing Blaise Bell while our guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the lawn, before heading into the hall. There was such a beautiful sunset that evening. It was so special to see Sydney Harbour glowing in the backdrop of our wedding day especially because this was the place where we first said “I love you”.
We're so glad you had the perfect day, did you include any personal touches to your ceremony?
We made sure every decision we made in the lead up to the wedding felt like ‘us’ from colours to location, photography and music. It really helped us to figure out what we wanted versus what was trending and that made the day feel particularly special. Although we had flower girls and a page boy, we knew we wanted to include our grandmothers in a special way. Our amazing celebrant Georgia Fletcher suggested they present our rings during the ceremony and this was such a beautiful moment.
What is the fondest memory from your wedding day?
We have so many, as cliché as it sounds it really was the happiest day of our lives. Our particular favourite moments were seeing each other as I walked down the aisle, taking a moment to go for a walk alone and dancing our hearts out on the dancefloor!
Eliza, you chose the Glimmer Ring as your wedding band, what led you to this choice?
I wasn’t sure where to start when choosing a wedding band. I knew I wanted something minimal and delicate but it was so hard to choose from so many beautiful rings. I reached out to Louise Jean for some help with a virtual consultant as we live in Sydney. Kelsey was super responsive and found a ring similar to my engagement ring in the Peregian Beach showroom.
Kelsey tried on some bands she thought I would like and sent through a folder of all my options. I fell in love with the Glimmer Ring as soon as I saw it paired with the radiant cut. It allowed my beautiful engagement ring to shine bright while remaining super special in itself with it's 10 glimmering diamonds.
What are you most excited for in your future as a couple?
We are so excited for all the ups and even the downs that life has ahead for us. We are excited to continue to learn about each other through all stages of life and grow more in love with every season. Finally, we can’t wait to celebrate all our special milestones with more beautiful LJ pieces!
