14K & 18K Gold

For our solid pieces, we use a 14K & 18K Yellow, White or Rose Gold. Our Gold products are ethically and sustainably sourced, and are manufactured here in Australia.

We believe that you should receive the highest quality of metal, which is why Louise Jean works in 14K or higher. Pure Gold (24K) is very soft and is mixed with other metals (often Copper, Silver or Zinc) to create a stronger alloy that is designed to be worn everyday.

14K is 58.3% pure gold content

18K is 75% pure gold content - this is the most common gold for Ceremonial pieces

Sterling Silver

14K Gold Filled

A majority of our pieces are made in (or come with the option of being made in) Gold Filled. 'Filled' refers to a layer of 14K Gold bonded to a base metal, such Brass or Copper. The Gold content is 1/20th or 5% of the total weight, and is essentially an affordable alternative to solid 14K products.

Our Gold Filled product look and wear the same as solid gold, and with proper care will last just a long.

Gold Plated

All of our Gold Plated pieces are plated in 18K Yellow Gold. For jewellery, 2.5 micron layers is considered to be of a high quality, however we choose to plate all of our pieces in 4 micron layers as we believe you should receive the highest quality jewellery.

Please note that all gemstones naturally vary slightly in colour, shade and size, and may have some slight variation to the product images.
However we believe that these individual characteristics are what make the piece beautiful, unique and like no other. We only source ethical stones from reputable buyers to ensure quality and sustainability.

Each Louise Jean pieces is handcrafted specially for you, this is why we endeavour to create jewellery of the highest quality. Metals naturally build a surface tarnish over time, this is why it's best to keep your jewellery away from harsh chemicals (perfumes, hairspray, chlorine, fake tan), body lotions, and extreme temperates. All of these can effect the appearance of the metal and the gemstones . Oxidisation, tarnishing and changes in metal colour are not considered a manufacturing fault.
We recommended to clean your jewellery carefully and regularly with a soft jewellery cleaning cloth after each wear to remove oils and other chemicals. If using a professional jewellery-cleaning product,
always read the manufacturers instructions. With proper care, your jewellery should last a lifetime.
Many gemstones (particularly Opal and Turquoise) are very fragile (due to their high water content) and can damage easily. Avoid sharp objects and look after your pieces with love and care as they
are delicate and can be scratched or chipped if dropped or knocked.
Our personalised packaging is perfect for storing your jewellery when you are not wearing it. They will protect your pieces and will help avoid contact with other jewellery, objects and chemicals.
